Makes LEDs look sick Review by Jonathan

Overall
Bought this to make a flashlight with 14 AA NiMH cells and it blows away my Duracell 4W LED flashlight. It's brighter, has a much more useful beam pattern at 10 degrees, doesn't require EXPENSIVE CR123
cells, and I get to brag that I made it myself! Yeah, it's bigger, but I had the AAs already, and 4 lithiums would work really well, too. Yes, you can run halogens at 16 volts, it just dramatically shortens the filiment life, but if you cut 2000 hrs down to 200, how long do you use a flashlight for? 5 Minutes? 2 hours working on the car? Old-style PR bulbs were rated for 5 to 15 hours average life! Also, one trick to lengthen filiment life is to put a small resistance in series to reduce the current surge when first turned on, say 1 ohm. Hope this helps flashlight makers!
